The long exposure to the sunshine can cause damages on the cells of the epithelial tissue. The goal of this research is to present the data about the number of people that were diagnosed with skin cancer and the description of the types of skin with the highest levels of incidence in the development of skin dermatoses in the state of Rondônia, north region of Brazil, taking in consideration the period of five years, comprising the years from 2013 to 2017. This epidemiological study is the transversal type, retrospectively. The data was acquired with the Brazilian Society of Dermatology (SBD). Two hundred and ninety eight cases of skin cancer were registered during the analyzed period of time, thus 92% corresponds to non-melanoma cancer and 8% to malignant melanoma. The results obtained show high percentage of white skin people with skin cancer (67%), next the brown skin people sum 30% and the black skin 2%. The yellow skin corresponded to 1% of all cases. The index of skin cancer is considered high on people with light skin in the state of Rondônia, evidencing the predisposition of people with this feature in developing dermatological neoplasias, however preventive programs show themselves to be efficient in fighting skin cancer. A exposição prolongada aos raios solares pode causar danos nas células do tecido epitelial. O objetivo desta pesquisa consiste em apresentar dados referentes ao número de pessoas diagnosticadas com câncer de pele e descrição dos tipos de pele com maiores níveis de incidência no desenvolvimento de dermatoses cutâneas no estado de Rondônia, região norte do Brasil, levando em consideração o período de cinco anos, compreendendo os anos de 2013 a 2017. Esse estudo demográfico e epidemiológico é do tipo transversal, de forma retrospectivo. Os dados foram adquiridos junto à Sociedade Brasileira de Dermatologia (SBD). Foi registrado 298 casos de câncer de pele no período analisado, sendo que 92% corresponde ao câncer não melanoma e 8% ao melanoma maligno. Os resultados obtidos evidenciaram alta porcentagem de pessoas com pele de cor branca com câncer de pele (67%), em seguida a pele de cor parda soma 30% e a cor negra 2%. A pele de cor amarela correspondeu a 1% dos casos. O índice de câncer de pele é considerado alto em pessoas de pele clara no estado de Rondônia, evidenciando a predisposição de pessoas com essa característica em desenvolver neoplasias dermatológicas, no entanto programas preventivos mostram-se eficientes no combate ao câncer de pele.
