Description |
This article analyses one of the first studies of the past of the Crimean Peninsula, written by Scottish doctor in Russian service Matthew Guthrie (1743–1807). Written in the genre of “fictitious travel,” allegedly made by the late spouse of Dr Guthrie, this volume presents a good example of how the persons of the Enlightenment studied the past, of their notions, working methods, and cognitive practices.
