ANALYSIS OF LEGAL ACTS IN THE FIELD OF CUSTOM DUTY AS ONE OF THE INSTRUMENTS FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE POLISH STATE BETWEEN 1919 AND 1920

One of the main instruments to protect the state are duties. They have to fulfill multiple functions, the most important of which is the economic one. Introduced tariffs defend the internal market, the interests of the citizens, and provide a significant supply to the Treasury from the payments at the same time. The article presents the formation of the Polish customs system, the first tariff and the exchange rate of some countries in relation to the Polish currency from that period of time. The study was conducted as one of the elements of scientific research on the development of the eastern border of Poland. The lack of detailed research was the decisive factor for writing the article. Also it was important that in 2018 Poland celebrated the 100th anniversary of the restoration of independence after 123 years of captivity. This article is one of the elements of the study of the Republic of Poland fromation within certain boundaries and in a certain territory. The subject of the study was the organization of the customs service in the revival of Poland. The most important goal of the scientific task was to develop discussions on the most important legal acts of the organization of the customs service, customs tariffs and the specifics of the work of the first customs officers in the Second Polish Republic.
