Considering increasing the number of desertions and abandonments of the military unit or the place of military service without permission, scientific research regarding the characterization of the composition of the crime in terms of criminal law stipulated in art. 408 in the Criminal Code of Ukraine has become important, which allows not only understanding the essence of criminal law prohibition, but also initiating countermeasures against desertions at both social and special criminological and individual levels. The purpose of this article is to analyze, according to the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the phenomenon of desertions as a socially dangerous act.
