In order to investigate the development and prediction direction of coal and gas outburst prediction indicators, this study takes the scientific papers on coal and gas outburst prediction indicators in CNKI database from 1982 to 2024 as the research object. The CiteSpace software was used to conduct visual analysis of the output, keywords, authors, and institutions in this field. The basic research situation, research hotspots, and research trends in this field in China were the main focuses of the analysis. The research results show that the related research in the field of coal and gas outburst prediction indicators has gone through the stages of active exploration, theoretical foundation, rapid development, and stable development, and is currently in the stable development stage. In the field of coal and gas outburst prediction indicators, the research hotspots mainly focus on coal and gas outbursts, sensitive indicators, critical values, risk assessment, real-time monitoring, multi-factor analysis and so on; the research on coal and gas outburst prediction indicators covers a wide range of fields, and institutional collaboration is very close, but collaboration among authors needs to be strengthened.
