The article provides a critical analysis of the sociological concept of modern society presented in Z. Bauman’s work «Liquid modernity» and formulates an alternative approach to understanding modern society as a «sociocultural mosaic»». Purpose: to show the insufficient validity of the theoretical position of Z. Bauman against the background of modern social processes and to offer an alternative point of view on this problem. Methodology: the phenomenological method and axiological approach were used. Results: an alternative concept of “sociocultural mosaic” was proposed, which allows us to explain the complex processes taking place in modern society, which are inexplicable from the position of Z. Bauman. Practical implications: The results obtained can be applied to the study of modern social and cultural processes.
