This is a review of the 2nd All-Russia youth conference attended by young researchers from educational and research institutions of Tuva, Khakasia, Novosibirsk and China. The conference was held 6 to 9 October, 2015, at Tuva Institute for Complex Development of Natural Resources, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Kyzyl, Republic of Tuva, Russian Federation). The conference, combined with a research school, celebrated the 20th anniversary of TICDNR (TIKOPR). It aimed to help scientists exchange valuable empirical information and set the prospects of sustainable use of natural resources over the vast region of Central Asia. Other goals included tracing practical implementation of important projects on resource use and providing methodological aid to young scientists in planning and doing research. The conference included four panels: “Issues and prospects of economic development”, “Studies in geology and metallogeny”, “Innovations in chemical engineering” and “Biodiversity and environmental studies” (the largest panel, featuring 14 papers in entomology, zoology, botany, and soil and environmental studies. Panel discussions helped formulate a number of suggestions and recommendations, including those addressed to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tuva and covering the crucial strategic priorities of industrial development, including power engineering, the environmental improvement in the region and the regional program to reduce rural unemployment.
