The article reveals the most important methodological problem aspects of students’ social competence definition in higher education socialization process. Within the framework of psychological and sociological analysis of «socialization» mechanism, social competence is interpreted as a basis for the person ‹s successful mastery and acceptance «new social roles» and for forming adequate positive personality characteristics. Sociological aspect of the social competence construct requires to consider it in the social context that determines the individual success in all society spheres. Social competence high level is correlated with the «samotranstsendentnost» phenomenon when there is a need for a positive society transformation, broadcasting the best personal qualities, thus the intention of forming of the individual’s social competence high level in the socialization process helps to preserve the society stability and its structures. The article presents the social competence structure and diagnostic methods; described author matrix of diagnosis and determination of students’ social competence formed level in high school educational space.
