The article describes the problem of solving the issues of plant biodiversity conservation in programs for adolescents. The author analyzes the age characteristics of adolescents and suggests ways of forming competences through educational excursions in the Botanical Garden of Peter the Great. The program for teenagers "IUCN Red List" is described as an example of educational activity with a teenage audience in a botanical garden.
