The article is devoted to the consideration of a new scientific direction – digital humanities – as a methodological basis for the development of IT education in higher educational institutions of culture. In terms of the educational innovation phenomenon, integration within the framework of the joint faculty of the areas in professional IT education and humanities education (library, documentary, archival, museology) is considered. The purpose of the study is to substantiate the digital humanities as a methodological basis for the IT education development in higher educational institutions of culture, to identify and outline the trends of the integration of IT education and humanities within the framework of the joint faculty. Research methods. Hypothetical-deductive method for considering the hypothesis about the possibility of using digital humanities as a methodological basis of IT-education in higher educational institutions of culture has been used. Scientific novelty. The expediency of IT specialists training in ZVO culture and necessity of organizational and pedagogical measures of integration in their preparation together with humanitarian specialties within the framework of the joint faculty have been substantiated. Conclusions. The expediency of developing IT education in a higher educational institution and organizational and pedagogical measures to integrate the joint training of IT specialists and specialists in the humanitarian field has got a methodological basis in line with the digital humanities ideas. It is emphasized on the complexity of forecasting the process and the results of the educational innovation development taking into account the factors that can influence the process under consideration, namely, the system's self-organization and external organizational decisions.
