Relevance. Unfavorable socio-economic conditions, demographic, cultural, social, economic changes in modern society are characterized by numerous crisis and negative situations and, thus, attract the interest of scientists to study the problems of human behavior in such conditions. The purpose of this study: to analyze ways to overcome difficulties and features of volitional regulation in adolescents with personal helplessness and independence. As methods of the study: the technique of diagnostics of personal helplessness (M. Klimova, D. Tiring), the questionnaire “Ways of overcoming negative situations” (S. Goncharova), the questionnaire “The monitoring of action” (Yu. Kul). As a results of the comparative analysis it was revealed: 1) subjects with personal helplessness often overcome negative situations with the help of strategies “self-Blame” and “search for the guilty”, and their peers with independence often cope through coping strategy “self-esteem”; 2) the level of volitional regulation in adolescents with signs of independence higher than their peers with personal helplessness. The scope of the results. The results of the study may be useful in the development of recommendations to parents and teachers on the development of skills of regulation of behavior in adolescents. Summary. The revealed features of volitional regulation and coping behavior in adolescents with personal helplessness indicate the weakness of emotional and volitional control, the inability to manage the events of their own lives, effectively overcome various life difficulties, the rejection of such adolescents themselves and others.
